Who We Are

Squeaky Wheel Productions History

Squeaky Wheel Productions is a nonprofit community media organization incorporated in 2004 in the state of Connecticut as a nonstock corporation.

The purposes for which Squeaky Wheel Productions was formed are:

To promote and foster public awareness of points of view, news and information - generally ignored or marginalized in public and private media -- in order to encourage a more just and democratic global community.

To develop and distribute content for various media formats, including broadcast and print, that informs the public on a wide range of issues including peaceful settlement of disputes, social justice, human, civil, labor and economic rights and environmental stewardship.

To provide a forum for journalists, academics, activists and artists to report or comment on issues and events from the perspective of the people most affected, who may have little power to influence the outcome or ability to have their voices heard on the public stage.

To facilitate the training of individuals in various production techniques in order to afford them the ability to take an active role in generating unique material that can be disseminated to a wider audience through a range of media outlets.

To organize, sponsor and promote meetings, public forums, lectures, workshops and artistic presentations on local, national and international issues, as well as analysis of how media institutions report on world events.

Squeaky Wheel Productions is now a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3). (Our previous fiscal sponsor since 2004 was The International Center for Global Communications Foundation [doing business as "The Global Center"] based in New York City.)
